Services for Staff

Welcome to the Cal Poly Humboldt Library. The following services are available to Cal Poly Humboldt staff.

In-Library Use of Materials

Most of the Cal Poly Humboldt Library bookstacks are open to the public, and the online catalog, OneSearch, which contains access information for most of the resources housed in the Library, may be searched from any location on or off-campus. In-library use of most materials does not require a Library ID card. Use of some protected collections, including Print Reserves and the special Case collection, requires either a Library ID card or a photo ID such as a driver license. You must have a Library ID card to view videos and DVDs and to listen to CDs in the Library's Media Resources Area.

Library ID Card

To check out books and other circulating materials, you must have a Library ID card made at the Checkout Desk. Employees of the University and its auxiliaries, regardless of time base; spouse proxy; and retired staff are eligible for a card.

Loan Periods

Loan periods for books and other materials vary. Interlibrary Loan and Hold/Recall services, as well as remote access to our licensed databases are available to Cal Poly Humboldt staff.

Events

In addition to presentations and poetry readings that are scheduled throughout the year, the Cal Poly Humboldt Library hosts annual events which faculty, staff, students, and alumni are invited to attend.

The annual Cal Poly Humboldt Authors Celebration honors Cal Poly Humboldt authors for their scholarship and creative work, including published articles, books, book chapters, special issues of journals, substantive encyclopedia entries, poetry, musical compositions, audio recordings, film/video recordings, and art exhibition catalogs. A bibliography will be compiled annually. Any member of the Cal Poly Humboldt community, including authors themselves, may submit the names of faculty, staff, students, and alumni using this form.

The Cal Poly Humboldt Authors Hall, a circulating collection of books, CDs, and DVDs, is located in the Helen Everett Reading Room on the Library’s second floor. Copyright permitting, articles and other digital works may be added to Humboldt Digital Scholar.
