Billing Inquiries & Lost Book Charges

Courtesy notices are sent before items are due as a reminder. Overdue notices are sent once items pass their original due date. Overdue fines are calculated and posted at the time of the item's return. Borrowers remain responsible for fines and bills incurred whether or not an overdue notice is received.

Items which are not returned, are lost, or damaged to the extent that they will need to be replaced are billed for replacement cost and in some instances an overdue fine. If an item is lost, stolen, or destroyed, this should be reported to the Library as soon as possible. By doing so, overdue fines may be negated or reduced, and we can often present possible cost saving options for replacement.

To contest a library fine or fee, please submit a request for review through the Library Fines and Fees Review Request form. Please note, Library Fines and Fees Review Requests can take 2-4 weeks for processing depending on library staff availability.

If an item is returned undamaged within six months of billing, the Library will clear any replacement fees. Overdue fees are non-refundable. Library debts that have been referred to collections cannot be reversed and are not actionable by the Library.

Inquiries about overdue notices, fines, bills, lost or damaged items should be directed to the Library Front Desk.  You can also call (707) 826-3431 or email
