Kathy Elsen completed her MA in Art at Cal Poly Humboldt in 1990. She taught for about a year as a beginning drawing instructor for the department. She also worked in library cataloging for the Cal Poly Humboldt Library before she moved to New Mexico to complete her MFA in painting.
