L4Humboldt (LifeLong Learning Lounge)
L4Humboldt (The LifeLong Learning Lounge, formerly L4HSU) starts June 6th and runs through July 29th, 2022. These free learning events are open to and conducted by campus and community members. Interested in facilitating a session? Go to https://libguides.humboldt.edu/l4humboldt/facilitators for information including a proposal form, templates for flyers, and much more! L4Humboldt@humboldt.edu will also help with getting the word out about your session!
Past events have included movie screenings, technology trainings, discussion groups, book and writing circles, professional development trainings, and webinars. L4Humboldt supports the personal and professional development needs of all Cal Poly Humboldt community members. All Community Members plus Cal Poly Humboldt Staff, Faculty, Students, and Administrators are welcome.
L4HSU events are quite diverse, well planned and easy to sign up. I loved Tableau Thursday, Camtasia workshop, book circles, graphic notes/meeting agenda, tea ceremony, West African music concert, walking with service dog, and sharing quality time with other HSU faculty, staff, students, and community members throughout the summer. I'm already looking forward to L4HSU 2016. Thank you! --2015 L4HSU participant |
L4Humboldt Mission:
- Connect programming offered over the previous year or for the future year in a coherent, organized, and planned summer series of “lunchtime” activities.
- Meet Personal and Professional Development needs of students (specifically student workers), staff, faculty, and community over the summer.
Dr. John Johnson and Dr. Renee Byrd provided one of the best workshops I have ever attended, titled BlackLivesMatter. They provided a brief history of African American history in the U.S., weaving together BlackLivesMatter movement, social justice, prison industrial complex, currently reality on HSU campus, and finally providing how we each can expand our knowledge and make not only HSU but the society better. It was a very emotional and meaningful workshop. Many want this workshop repeated so that more people can attend. Those of us who attended are going to stay in touch to follow up on what we've learned. --2015 L4HSU participant |

I also learned how to form a proper Haiku - and that there is a peaceful little pond behind the Rec building. And...I learned about a cool coding video game, and shared that with my techie teenagers (they loved it!). Thank you!! --2015 L4HSU participant |

Professional development is always wonderful on campus. There are so many people with so much experience and there are not many places where you are really able to tap into that vast knowledge. I also really enjoyed meeting people from other parts of campus. --2015 L4HSU participant |
