• American Ethnic Geography: a Cultural Geography of the United States and Canada (Kilpinen) Series of maps showing ethnic groups, culture regions, religion, language, politics and socio-economics of the United States and Canada. Most maps focus on the United States and are choropeth maps showing thematic distributions by county.
• Atlas of American Indian Affairs (Prucha) 1990 (ref E77 P798) Chapters cover culture and tribal areas; census enumeration, 1890-1980; Indian land cessions, Indian reservations, agencies, schools, and hospitals, army and the Indian frontier.
• Atlas of Literature (Bradbury) 1996 (not available in the HSU Library) Ties together literature and geography by incorporating maps that show relationships between writers and their physical and cultural landscapes. Examples include locations of author's houses in major cities; landscapes depicted in works of literature, and geographical settings of fictional works.
• Atlas of the North American Indian (Waldman) 2000 (ref E 77 W195 2000) Contains over 100 maps with interpretive text that cover the history, culture, native-white relationships, and tribal locations from ancient times to the present day.
• Atlas of World Cultures: a Geographical Guide to Ethnographic Literature (Price) 1989 (Atlas G 1046 E1 P7 1989) Series of maps show the geographical location of 3500 cultural groups. Each cultural group includes up to two key bibliographical references.
• Atlas of the World's Religions (Smart) 1999 (Ref BL 80.2 A84 1999)
• Historical Atlas of the Religions of the World (al Faruqi and Sopher) 1974 (Ref BL 80.2 F28)
• Latitudes and Attitudes: An Atlas of American Tastes, Trends, Politics and Passions (Weiss) 1994 (ref E 169.04 W45 1994)
• Literary Map of Manhatten (New York Times) Shows where imaginary New Yorkers lived, worked, played, drank, walked and looked at ducks." Almost 100 books are included. Browse by author or title or click on map locations.
• Modern Language Association Language Map (Modern Language Association) Uses data from the 2000 United States census to display the locations and numbers of speakers of thirty languages and seven groups of less commonly spoken languages in the United States. There are three features on this site: 1) the Language Map interactive mapper creates choropleth maps showing the density of language speakers by county or zip code at the national or state level; 2) the Compare Languages and Places feature generates interactive maps for two languages in the same state, or compares the density of the same language in two states. (Zoom in on both national maps to focus on regions or zoom in on state maps to focus on clusters of counties or zip codes); and 3) the Data Center provides actual numbers and percentages of speakers.
