California Environmental Resources Evaluation System (CERES) (http://ceres.ca.gov)
An information system developed by the California Resources Agency to facilitate access to electronic data describing California's rich and diverse resources -- information is in a variety of forms, e.g., text, photographs, satellite images,   statistical databases, and Geographic Information System (GIS) analyses, and comes from many sources, e.g., local, state and fedral government agenices, academic institutions, and community groups.

This federal agency has a home page which allows access to organizational information, DOE news, resources, and data.  Even has a Kidzone with a Game Room & Activities, Contests, and a Science Room.
Environmental Organization WebDirectory - Science:Environmental Engineering (http://www.webdirectory.com/Science/Environmental_Engineering/)
The WebDirectory claims to be the Earth's Biggest Environment Search Engine.  This section is on Environmental Engineering resources.
Environmental Professional's Homepage (http://www.clay.net)
A fast loading page designed for rapid information retrieval by environmental consultants and remediation professionals. Very well organized and covers all the major topics of interest to the environmental professional.
GrayLIT Network, Full-Text Scientific Report Literature (http://www.osti.gov/graylit/)
GrayLIT Network is a portal for technical report information generated through federally funded research and development projects. GrayLIT Network Database Descriptions tells you what collections may searched using this portal.
Information Center for the Environment (http://ice.ucdavis.edu)
A cooperative effort of environmental scientists at UC Davis and collaborators at over 30 private, state, federal, and international organizations interested in environmental protection -- provides links to several projects, including the California Rivers Assessment (CARA) -- one of the CARA files is on the Eel River and includes several maps and a searchable bibliography of 315 citations. Other projects include California Watershed Projects Inventory (CWPI), California Natural Resource Projects Inventory, and Aquatic Diversity of California
National Climatic Data Center  (http://lwf.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/ncdc.html)
Includes interactive visualization of climate data, images of hurricanes and other storms, station lists, long-term climatological data sets, US monthly precipitation, and an interface to real time wind profiler and RASS data.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) (http://www.noaa.gov)
Describes NOAA's mission, program information, data services, etc. Also has  NOAA News including a story on NOAA REMOTE SENSING EXPERTISE AIDS WORLD TRADE CENTER RECOVERY EFFORT.
US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (http://www.epa.gov/)
Provides information on EPA programs and intitatives, contracts, jobs, publications, environmental test methods and guidelines, EPA data systems, etc.
US Environmental Protection Agency Envirofacts Master Chemical Integrator (http://www.epa.gov/enviro/html/emci/chemref/index.html)
Lengthy documents summarizing the toxicity of hazardous substances. Includes exposure limits, health hazard information, workplace controls and practices, handling and storage, ecological effects, persistence in the environment, and bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms.
US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) (http://www.fws.gov)
Contains links to information on coastal ecosystems, endangered species, environmental contaminants, fire management, fisheries, migratory birds and waterfowl, national wildlife refuge system, wetlands, wildlife laws, etc.

CADDET Energy Efficiency (http://CADDET-EE.ORG/)
The Centre for the Analysis and Dissemination of Demonstrated Energy Technologies (CADDET) is an information centre currently sponsored by twelve member countries.  Its objective is to enhance the exchange of information on new, cost-effective, energy-saving technologies that have been demonstrated in applications in industry, buildings, transport, utilities, and agriculture. A quarterly Newsletter is published and the articles are available online.

This branch of the Centre for the Analysis and Dissemination of Demonstrated Energy Technologies (CADDET) is the result of an International Energy Agency agreement for the exchange of information on commercial renewable energy projects. Publications include Renewable Energy Newsletter and Technical Brochures which are case studies of projects selected from the CADDET Renewable Energy Register.

The California Energy Commission is the state's primary energy policy and planning agency.  Has much interesting information such as California Energy Facts, Energy Education from California Energy CommissionEnergy Commission Publications & Reports, and California's Renewable Energy Programs.

From the California Energy Commission, this site has consumer tips on saving energy; rebates, grants & loans; and renewable energy.
DOE Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Network (EREN) (http://www.eren.doe.gov)
Locates and organizes qualitative information about renewable energy and energy efficient technologies.
DOE Information Bridge (http://www.osti.gov/bridge/)
According to the home page, DOE Information Bridge "provides free and convenient access to full-text and bibliographic records of Department of Energy (DOE) research and development reports in physics, chemistry, materials, biology, environmental sciences, energy technologies, engineering, computer and information science, renewable energy, and other topics."

Continues Energy Research Abstracts which was discontinued as of December 1995. This database contains citations for Department of Energy sponsored scientific and technical reports. Updated weekly. Searchable and downloadable bibliographic records and the full text of DOE research report literature from 1996 forward are available at DOE Information Bridge.  Both of these databases are components of EnergyFiles.

A portal site of  "Virtual Library Collections of Energy Science and Technology" which is "Sponsored, developed, and maintained by the Department of Energy’s Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI)."  Allows for an EnergyPortals Search across over 25 databases and collections, e.g., PubSCIENCE (1990 - present).

This California state government page has much information on how to conserve energy and save money.  Sections include: Energy Saving Tips; Financial Incentives; Energy Education Grants; California's Energy Challenge: California Energy Information Website; Consumer Energy Center; Today's Supply of and Demand for Electricity in California (from the ISO); and many more.
PubSCIENCE - Energy, Science, and Technology Journal Literature (http://pubsci.osti.gov/)
PubSCIENCE is a "service developed by the Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) to facilitate searching and accessing peer reviewed journal literature in the physical sciences and other energy-related disciplines."   You can search across abstracts and citations of multiple publishers at no cost. Once you find an interesting abstract, a hyperlink provides access to the publisher's server to obtain the full text article.

According to the home page, "Solstice is the Internet information service of the Renewable Energy Policy Project and the Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology (REPP-CREST)."
World Energy Efficiency Association (WEEA) (http://www.weea.org/)
WEEA is a private, non-profit organization composed of developed and developing country institutions and individuals charged with increasing energy efficiency.  Its purpose is to: (1) assist developing countries in accessing information on energy efficiency, (2) serve as a clearinghouse for information on energy efficiency programs, technologies and measures, (3) disseminate this information worldwide, and (4) publicize international cooperation efforts in energy efficiency."

The American Solar Energy Society (ASES) is a national organization dedicated to advancing the use of solar energy for the benefit of U.S. citizens and the global environment. ASES publishes SOLAR TODAY, a bimonthly magazine that features all kinds of solar technologies.

Data primarily intended for the siting, specification, and sizing of solar energy equipment is available from National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) either with clickable imagemaps or  without clickable imagemaps.
