Interviews with Mitsumasa Anno, Ashley Bryan, Eric Carle, Tana Hoban, Karla Kuskin, James Marshall, Robert McCloskey, Iona Opie, Helen Oxenbury, Jerry Pinkney, Maurice Sendak, William (and Jeanne) Steig, Rosemany Wells, and Charlotte Zolotow.

Williams, Nancy S. Selecting and Using Good Books for Struggling Readers: A Resource for Parents and Caregivers. Scarecrow (LB1050.5 W4894 2002). Five chapters with guidelines and then briefly annotated lists of books; multiple indexes to the selected titles, including both reading level and interest level grade assignments.

And two books about Harry Potter:

Heilman, Elizabeth E., ed. Harry Potter's World: Multidisciplinary Critical Perspectives. RoutledgeFalmer (PR 6068 O93 Z73 2003). Fourteen essays, ranging from "Reading Harry Potter with Navajo Eyes" to "Blue Wizards and Pink Witches: Representations of Gender Identity and Power."

Whited, Lana A., ed. The Ivory Tower and Harry Potter: Perspectives on a Literary Phenomenon. University of Missouri Press (PR 6068 O93 Z734 2002). Sixteen essays, three previously published, across a wide range of topics.

And one more interesting California Gold Rush title:

Owens, Kenneth W. Riches for All: The California Gold Rush and the World. University of Nebraska Press (F865 O94 2002). Fourteen essays, including "Clouded Legacy: California Indians and the Gold Rush" by Albert Hurtado and similar chapters on Mexicans, Chinese, and African Americans.
