Print Reserves Borrowing Information

Checking out Print Reserves
  • Check out Print Reserves at the Checkout Desk in the lobby.
  • Valid HSU Student, Staff, or Faculty ID required to check out Course Reserve items.
  • Valid HSU ID required to check out Permanent Reserve items, or any photo ID required to check out Permanent Reserve items for library use only.
  • You are responsible for returning items by the due date. A receipt is available at check out or login to view your library account at Renew a Book / My Account.
Returning Reserves
  • Return Reserve items in the slot on the west side of the Reserve Desk (Library Cafe side). Items left elsewhere may accrue overdue fines.
Circulation Restrictions
  • Two Reserve items may be checked out at one time.
Loan Periods
  • Reserve items circulate for 2 hours or 24 hours and can be checked out again if there are no holds.
    • Library Use Only items cannot leave the building.
    • 2 hour / 24 hour items may leave the building.
    • 2 hour items can be checked out overnight 2 hours before closing and are due back the next day at opening time.
  • 24 hour reserve items can be checked out anytime and are due in 24 hours.
  • Holds may be placed on Reserve items.
    • Place holds up to 2 days in advance at the Checkout Desk with an HSU ID.
    • Holds are on the hour and expire after 15 minutes if not picked up.
  • Reserve items are non-renewable but can be checked out again if there are no holds.
Overdue Fines for Reserves
  • Overdue Fines for Reserves are $1 per hour
    • For each Reserve item checked out.
    • $1 fine charged even for portions of hours.
    • Fines accrue every hour the Library is open.
    • There is NO grace period.
Permanent Reserves
  • Permanent Reserves are located behind the Reserves Desk and include:
    • Book of the Year hard copy and CD versions.
    • CSU/HSU-related information.
    • Study materials for the Government and History Challenge Exams.
    • HSU catalogs.
    • Faculty training materials .
    • Study materials for the CBEST, GRE, GWPE, MPT, & TOEFL exams.
    • Environmental Impact Reports and other general interest items.
