Ethics
Introduction
This unit will explain major ethical issues related to the creation and use of information: plagiarism; correct formats for citing print and electronic resources; copyright and fair use.
Objectives
- Define plagiarism
- Describe several ways to avoid plagiarism in your research
- Explain why citing sources is important in research
- Determine how to cite the sources you use in research, including books, chapters in books, articles in print or electronic encyclopedias, magazines, journals, or newspapers, Webpages, or non-print media (videos, compact discs, etc.)
- Define and explain copyright, intellectual property, and fair use
