Exercises

You may do these exercise alone, in pairs, or in small groups. You will construct,
perform, and evaluate three electronic searches. Each search will be one exercise.
For each search, complete the following tasks:
- Choose a topic to search on. A topic may be assigned to you, you may use
a topic assigned for another class, you may use a national or international
event currently in the news, or you may select one of the suggested topics
below.
- Fill out the Search
Strategy Worksheet for your topic.
- Perform the search on your worksheet in the Academic
Search Elite index. As you review your search results, answer the questions
on the Search
Evaluation Sheet.
Suggested topics:
- Are men better at mathematics than women?
- Does media violence make children more violent?
- How is information technology changing society?
- I want to find information on homeless people in California.
- I want to know about exercise as a means of reducing stress.
- I want to investigate the political aspects of reggae music.
- What are the environmental effects of global warming?
- What has been happening with the wolves reintroduced into Yellowstone National
Park?
- Why are children schooled at home, and how successful is this type of education?
