	Library Homepage

Our homepage, library.humboldt.edu, is the entrance to the HSU virtual Library.

The Library homepage makes it possible for anyone with Web access to perform significant amounts of research in the convenience of their home or office. It is "open" day and night, year round, except when our server has to be taken offline briefly for upgrades or maintenance. These downtimes are announced on the homepage with as much notice as possible. Access to some of our electronic resources is limited to Humboldt State students, faculty, and staff, but much of the virtual HSU Library is available to all our virtual visitors.

Among other useful features, our homepage has links to all of our electronic resources, information about Library hours and services, electronic forms for asking reference questions, requesting items on interlibrary loan, or requesting the purchase of particular items. It has contact information, including email links, for library departments and personnel. It has guides to many of our collections, recommended sources of information on the World Wide Web, and instructions for using many of the Library's resources, both print and electronic.

The homepage is designed for ease of use.

• The column on the left side labeled Search: lists links to library catalogs, databases, and more. Rolling the mouse over each link causes explanatory text to appear in the center of the page. Click on the link to connect to the resource.
• The column on the right, headed About HSU Library: has links to information about the Library and its services, including electronic forms. These links can also be rolled over for more information.
• The ASK US! link connects to a form for requesting reference assistance. This service is available to HSU students, faculty, and staff.
• SiteSearch will find any page on the Library's website. Type in keywords and click the Go! button.
• The links along the bottom connect to the Humboldt State University homepage, email links to the Library personnel, an email link to the Library's webmaster, and the campus page for faculty, staff, and department contact information.
