Books and Media - Start by looking for materials at HSU in the HSU Library Catalog. The catalog has close to a million records for all types of materials that you have access to immediately, not just books, but video, electronic books, magazines and more.
HSU Theses - The Library Catalog has over 3500 HSU theses produced since 1950. You can browse by degree and/or enter a subject or title keyword or phrase, author or year. Results can be sorted by author, title or year. Most theses from Fall 2005 are available fulltext in Humboldt Digital Scholar.
Interlibrary Loan -If you don't find what you're looking for in the Library catalog, you're not out of luck. We can help you find materials from other CSU libraries and libraries throughout the world. The CSU Catalog searches the combined CSU Catalog of all 23 libraries and request items using the built-in interlibrary loan system. Articles + will also search the other CSU libraries and libraries world wide for interlibrary loan requesting.
Information Management - a critical part of the student research process is keeping track of references (citations)—journal papers, books, web pages, images, quotations, etc.—that support your research so that you can properly cite them in your work using a required publication style. Zotero is the recommended reference management tool for HSU students. Attend a free workshop to get started.
Humboldt Digital Scholar - add a digital copy of your completed thesis to Humboldt's growing collection of institutional scholarship. Increase its visibility worldwide. See Getting Started with Humboldt Digital Scholar.
Journals and Magazines
If you are looking for articles on a subject or topic, use Articles + or select one of our specialized databases from our Articles and Databases pages. A whole lot of our journals and magazines are available in full text online, but if you see a link to Find It @ HSU, click it. The Find It @ HSU service links all of our full text electronic journals together and automatically connects you to Interlibrary Loan when we don't have a subscription.
In addition to presentations and poetry readings that are scheduled throughout the year, the HSU Library hosts annual events which faculty, staff, students, and alumni are invited to attend.
The annual HSU Authors Celebration honors HSU authors for their scholarship and creative work, including published articles, books, book chapters, special issues of journals, substantive encyclopedia entries, poetry, musical compositions, audio recordings, film/video recordings, and art exhibition catalogs. A bibliography will be compiled annually. Any member of the Humboldt State University community, including authors themselves, may submit the names of faculty, staff, students, and alumni using this form.
The HSU Authors Hall, a circulating collection of books, CDs, and DVDs, is located in the Helen Everett Reading Room on the Library’s second floor. Copyright permitting, articles and other digital works may be added to Humboldt Digital Scholar.
