Explore Humboldt!

May is the best time to be in Humboldt! The average temperature in Humboldt County is between 42 degrees to 64 degrees and in the summer months we see temperatures rise to 75 degrees with a coastal breeze. While you’re here we hope you’ll take advantage of some of our local favorite outdoor places, all under 20 mins from campus.

Arcata Marsh -  Walk the Arcata Marsh, it has a fascinating engineering history and great bird watching.

Sue-meg State Park - It’s  just up the road and is a particularly nice state park with an agate beach and nice coastal views, when the fog lifts!

Hammond Trail - Great for a leisurely walk or bike ride.

Humboldt Coastal Nature Center - Learn about the coastal area.

Moonstone Beach - You can drive right to the beach and it is accessible for all ages. There are surfers to watch and lots of activity.

Ma-le’l Dunes (North) - Excellent dunes and beach located 5 minutes from Arcata.

Sequoia Park Zoo - Check out the wildlife and take the scenic Redwood SkyWalk.
