Leadership Toolkit Series
The Leadership Toolkit Series will focus on helping leaders motivate and develop the people they lead. Throughout the series, we will highlight a specific leadership skill to discuss and practice together. The following topics will be part of this series: Providing Feedback, Listening, Coaching and Storytelling. Each session in the series will focus on how to apply the skills as a leader, however, anyone interested in the topic may attend any or all in the series. Sessions facilitated by Julia Heatherwick, Training Specialist, HR & APS
July 21, 11am-12pm - Providing Feedback: Do you dread giving feedback? Do you wish you had a simple way to organize your thoughts and feedback? We will discuss a feedback framework and practice it in small groups.
July 28, 11am-12pm - Listening: Does your mind sometimes wander or rehearse what you are going to say while someone else is talking to you? We live in a busy and distracting world. You are not alone. Listening is a skill we can practice to help us be more present with others. In this session, we will practice listening deeply to others through a series of activities. Come prepared to listen and be listened to in this interactive session.
August 1, 11am-12pm - Coaching: Do people come to you to solve their problems? Are you occasionally overwhelmed with the need to have all the answers? Using a coach approach can help your employees or peers come up with their own answers to fix problems they face. Bring something you want to be coached on during the session. You will practice coaching and being coached in this session. Session facilitated by a credentialed coach through the International Coach Federation.
August 4, 11am-12pm - Storytelling: Have you heard a leader share an inspirational story and wish you could tell stories like they do? Storytelling helps you connect to your employees and illustrates points in a way they can be remembered and retold. In this session we will talk about the art of storytelling and how to find and capture your motivational stories.
