Beginning Academic Research

Class Description

This 1-unit class provides strategies, sources, and techniques for effective use and evaluation of library and other information sources in print and electronic formats. Students will learn about the structure of information; defining a topic; developing effective research strategies; tools for locating information in print sources, databases, and the Internet; evaluating information, and citing information.

Class Offerings

SP 285: Beginning Academic Research will not be offered this semester. We suggest these alternatives:

• The OWLS are a set of self-paced tutorials on how to use our library and perform research.
• Contact a librarian with specific questions.
