Identifies ten competencies which are considered critical to the journalism profession by both journalism educators and industry professionals. Links to some of the most essential sites have been provided to help facilitate and promote the development of these competencies while also encouraging further exploration.

Comprehensive list of some of the best resources on the Internet.
Voice of the Shuttle: Media Studies Page (vos.ucsb.edu/browse.asp?id=2720)
This site is maintained by a team at UC Santa Barbara. There are frequent updates. It includes links for journalism, tv, film/video, radio, comics, internet broadcast media, media theory and history, etc.
Infomine: Scholarly Internet Resource Collections (infomine.ucr.edu)
In the "Query" box type "Journalism." A project of UC Riverside this site provides links similar to those of Voice of the Shuttle.
A Journalist's Guide to the Internet (reporter.umd.edu)
Provides links by catagories designed to enhance the journalist's use of the internet.
Writers Resource Center (www.poewar.com)
Created in 1994 to "serve the needs of writers on the internet."
Freedom of Information Center (www.missouri.edu/~foiwww)
Located at the University of Missouri, the Center was created in 1958 and has an extensive collection of articles and documents about access to information, both governmental and social. There are also links to state FOI laws, First Amendment issues, journalism links, etc.
Online Journalism Review (www.ojr.org)
As a journalism review it covers "the full range of journalistic issues in all media, but with a particular emphasis on the Internet."
