ebrary's Academic Complete collection provides searchable
access to about 24,000 electronic book titles and 1000 maps, for an
unlimited number of users. Titles date from 2000. Printing is limited to
10 pages per print job and 40 pages per browser session. Users need to
download the ebrary Reader plugin to
be able to open pages. Campus users may create an optional ebrary account
to save book links to a personal online bookshelf.
The ebrary Reader plugin (release Feb. 2005) is compatible with:
- Netscape Communicator 4.x, 7.x and later
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x through 6.x
- Mozilla 1.7 and later
- Firefox 1.0 and later
Mac users may have to copy the plug-in file to your home directory
depending on how permissions are set up on the computer.
- After installing the plug-in, open up the Macintosh hard drive,
double-click "Library" and then double-click "Internet Plug-Ins".
- Locate the file inside this folder called "ebrary Reader" and copy it (do
not cut!).
- Now, click the Home directory icon that is on the left of
the window; shaped like a house, and usually has your computer username
next to it. Once you click it, make sure the top of the window has the
house icon next to it with your username before proceeding.
- Then double-click "Library" and then double-click "Internet Plug-Ins".
- Paste the file "ebrary Reader" into this folder.
This will make the Reader available to your user home directory, which is
active whenever you log in to the computer.
