U.S.
Federal Documents
Humboldt
State University Library is a selective
depository for U.S. Federal
Government and California
State Documents. Being a selective depository, we
receive some,
but not all, items published by the US Government and by
the State of California.
The federal government
is the largest publisher in the world. We currently receive
slightly over half of the material published by the United
States Government Printing Office and a complete
collection of the Congressional hearings.
Location of U.S. Documents
The federal documents collection is housed on the north
end of the third floor and contains approximately 400,000 items.
Beginning in of March 1998, the HSU Online Catalog began listing
the federal documents collection. Separate indexes are available
to help you to find the information you need. Another classification
system is used in this collection as well, the Superintendent of
Documents (SuDoc)
classification system.
California
State Documents
In
addition to documents we receive from the federal government,
the HSU Library is a selective depository for California State
government publications. We receive a large portion of the items
issued by the State Printer. We also receive many publications
directly from state agencies.
Location
of California Documents
The
California documents collection is housed on the north end of
the third floor, on the west side (across from US Documents).
Many items in this collection since mid - 1999 are also listed
in the HSU Library Online Catalog.
