Mr. Po-Yang Chung, a Humboldt State alumnus, made a significant donation to the HSU Library for the purchase of books relating to entrepreneurship. “My original program of study was in Fisheries Management,” said Mr. Chung, “but who would have guessed that my years at Humboldt would prepare me for my role as an entrepreneur?”
The co-founder of the Asian Pacific Division of DHL Worldwide Express, Mr. Chung now is retired from his executive position at DHL. Additional gifts to Humboldt State University include the 1990 establishment of the Watson Lecture Series on Business Ethics in honor of Professor Frank Watson, of whom he said, “his class was the compass that I would turn to in my entrepreneurial growth.” This series was renamed the Chung-Watson Lecture Series on Business Ethics in 2005 after Mr. Chung was recognized as an HSU Distinguished Alumnus. He is an accomplished painter, and one of his paintings, Colorful Clouds Spread on Mountains, 2004, hangs in the HSU Library.
