STUDENTS
The student ID card is paid for as part of a student's initial enrollment fees. The Library is informed of new enrollees, but you may be asked to show some other form of identification or HSU paperwork, especially if you late register.
FACULTY AND STAFF
The campus Personnel Office normally issues a "campus services ID card request form" as part of an appointment papers package when a person is initially hired. Bring this form to the ID Office during ID hours for your card. If you have not received an ID request form, bring a copy of your appointment papers.
COMMUNITY RESIDENTS AND/OR ALUMNI
Community members who are at least 18 years old, with California DMV identification, and a Humboldt County address may borrow books for a fee. The fee is $14 for four months, or $35 for a year, with a $5 initial charge to have the card made. Application forms are available at the Circulation Desk any time the Library is open.
Members of the Alumni Association may borrow from the Library as a benefit of membership, without additional fees except $5 to first have the card made. Bring your Alumni membership card, and California DMV identification to the Library during ID hours.
With a Resident or Alumni card you will be entitled to most library privileges. Notable exceptions are access to search/hold services, interlibrary loan services, video checkout, and remote access to licensed electronic databases.
ID CARD REPLACEMENT
There is a $5 charge to have an ID card replaced. For students this is paid at the Cashier's window, second floor of the Student & Business Services Building. Bring the receipt from Cashier's to the Library ID Office during ID hours. (Returning, previously enrolled students who have lost their initial ID cards will need to pay this fee, since students are only charged with enrollment fees one time.) Staff, faculty, community and alumni borrowers should use the email link to Circulation below, or call the ID Office (826-5601) for information on replacing cards.
